Acid sphingomyelinase inhibitor

Inhibitor of osteoclastic bone resorption. Prevents osteoporosis and skeletal fractures, particularly in patients with multiple myeloma or prostate cancer. Also used to treat hypercalcemia. Inhibition of acid sphingomyelinase (aSMase) with an IC₅₀ 5µm.
