The ZytoLight® SPEC JAK2 Dual Color Break Apart Probe is designed to detect rearrangements involving the chromosomal region 9p24.1 harboring the JAK2 gene. The JAK family proteins are cytoplasmic tyrosine kinases that are essential in maintaining normal hematopoiesis due to their involvement in the JAK-STAT signaling pathway. Rearrangements which lead to constitutive activation of JAK2 kinase have been described in various hematologic malignancies.
