Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant

Cell permeable and orally available flavonoid. Induces apoptosis in tumor cells but not in healthy cells by increasing peroxide production. Displays anti-inflammatory properties. Suppresses the release of nitric oxide (NO) by inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS; NOS II), PGE₂ by cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), proinflammatory cytokines, MCP-1 gene expression and NF-κB activation. Antioxidant.
