Blocks lipid peroxidation

Lazaroid inhibitor of iron-dependent lipid peroxidation. Antioxidant. Inhibits lipid peroxidation in a variety of experimental systems including cultured brain microvessel endothlial cells, Cu²⁺ treated monocyclic THP1 cells and LLC-PK1 cell layers where it blocks F₂ isoprostane production. Prevented organ damage in intestinal cold storage, preservation and reperfusion injury.
