Squalene epoxidase inhibitor

Inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis at the level of squalene epoxidase. Potent non-competitive inhibitor of squalene epoxidase from Candida (K_i=30 nM), inhibiting mammalian enzymes at higher concentrations (4-77 µM). It inhibits HUVEC proliferation and angiogenesis and displays interesting anti-inflammatory and free radical scavenging activities. Clinically useful antifungal agent.
