One unit will release 1 nmol p-nitrophenol per minute at 30°C from 50mM p-nitrophenyl phosphate in 25mM TRIS/HCl, 50mM NaCl, 2mM EDTA, 5mM DTT, 0.01% Brij35, 1mg/ml BSA, pH 7.0.
