Sp-2′-O-MB-cAMPS is a lipophilic precursor of Sp-cAMPS, a PDE-resistant activator of protein kinase A. During metabolic activation by esterases Sp-cAMPS and butyrate are released. Significantly more lipophilic and membrane permeant compared to Sp-cAMPS.
