COX inhibitor

Highly selective and potent inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (IC₅₀=10nM for COX-2 versus IC₅₀=17.8µM for COX-1) with antitumor properties. Exhibits longer half-life time and reduced gastric toxicity in fasting rat model. Has antitumor properties and has been shown to induce apoptosis and bFGF and VEGF-driven angiogenesis. Potent antimetastatic activity against both spontaneous metastases arising following primary tumour excision and experimental metastases.
