Green fluorescent proteins and luciferases are widely used research tools for applications requiring low detection limits. Gaussia luciferase and Renilla luciferase are up to 1,000 times brighter than Firefly luciferase. Gaussia luciferase and Renilla luciferase are both ATP-independent, requiring only coelenterazine and O2 as substrates. Their high quantum yields makes them particularly useful in immunoassays.
