Phosphate Assay

Phosphate is found virtually everywhere in the biological system. It is used as a building block for several crucial substances including those used by the cell for energy, cell membranes, and DNA. There are over 500 kinases and 200 phosphatases in the human genome alone, which function by adding or removing phosphate groups to/from hundreds or thousands of molecules including proteins, sugars, nucleic acids, lipids and a plethora of other small molecules. AkrivisBio’s Phosphate Assay provides a simple, quick and precise method for measuring phosphate levels in various samples. In this assay, phosphate ions in samples react with malachite green and ammonium molybdate to form a chromogenic complex measured at OD 650 nm. The intensity of the color of the chromogenic complex is directly proportional to the phosphate concentration in the sample.
