Palmatine is a protoberberine alkaloid isolated from medicinal herbs such as Coptis chinensis Franch. It is a selective topoisomerase I and II poison [1,2]. The sedative effect of palmatine is related to its ability to inhibit dopamine biosynthesis [3,4]. Palmatine is a vasodilator that reduces (Ca2+) [5].
