Paeoniflorin is a glycoside isolated from the root of Paeonia lactiflora. It has been used as an anticonvulsant and has hypoglycemic effects [1,2]. It reverses guanethidine-induced hypotension by activating the central adenosine A1 receptors in the brain [3].
