Inhibitor of PLC and PLD

Aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits translation by binding to the small subunit of prokaryotic ribosomes. Inhibitor of phospholipase C (PLC; IC₅₀=1-10µM) due to binding to inositol phospholipids. Neomycin inhibits phosphatidylcholine-phospholipase D activity (IC₅₀=65µM). Blocks voltage sensitive Ca²⁺ channels without affecting Na⁺/Ca²⁺ antiporters in nerve cells. Induces PLA2 activation in human platelets.
