m2,2,7G is an analogue of guanosine in which the amino hydrogens in position 2 and in position 7 of the nucleobase are replaced by methyl groups. m2,2,7G can be found in the cap structures at the 5′ ends of snRNAs and, far less often, of mRNAs. It can be used as a reference for analysis of methylated snRNAs or mRNAs.
