Interleukin-8 (IL-8) is a chemokine, a member of the cytokine family that displays chemotactic activity for specific types of leukocytes. IL-8 regulates leukocyte recruitment and trafficking and also has mitogenic and angiogenic properties. IL-8 expression has been demonstrated in neuroendocrine tumor cells in human cancer tissue.
