Immunoglobulin M (IgM) is an immunoglobulin expressed initially on the surface of B-cells as a monomer of two mu heavy chains and two light chains. Following B-cell activation, IgM is secreted in its pentameric form, consisting of five IgM molecules joined at the base of the Fc domain by a J chain. IgM is the first Immunoglobulin expressed following infection.

Crossreactivity |
May cross-react with IgM from other species. |
Formulation |
Liquid. In 0.005M sodium phosphate, pH 7.6, containing 0.125M sodium chloride, 7.5mg/mL BSA, and 50% glycerol. |
Host |
Goat |
Immunogen |
Purified mouse IgM. |
Purity Detail |
Immunoaffinity purified. |
Quality Control |
The goat antiserum was immunoaffinity purified to isolate anti-mouse IgM μ-chain specific antibodies which were then adsorbed with human IgG and conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP). |
Recommendation Dilutions/Conditions |
ELISA (1:2,500-50,000)Immunohistochemistry (1:250-2500)Western Blot (1:2500-50,000 colorimetric, 1:5,000-100,000 ECL)Suggested dilutions/conditions may not be available for all applications.Optimal conditions must be determined individually for each application. |
Species Reactivity |
Mouse |
Specificity |
Based on immunoelectrophoresis and/or ELISA, the antibody reacts with the heavy chain of mouse IgM but not with mouse IgG or the light chains of mouse immunoglobulins. No antibody was detected against non-immunoglobulin serum proteins. |
