The DR3 receptor (WSL-1, Apo-3, LARD, TRAMP, TR3) is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNF-R) family. DR3 is a type I transmembrane receptor. It is 339 aa long and contains 4 extracellular cysteine-rich motifs in its extracellular domain, while its cytoplasmic region contains a death domain. DR3 is abundantly expressed on thymocytes and T and B lymphocytes. Overexpression of DR3 mediates activation of nuclear factor NF-κB and induces apoptosis. Besides the induction of apoptosis, DR3 has been reported to regulate negative selection during thymocyte development.
