DMH-1 is an analog of the BMP inhibitor dorsomorphin that potently, selectively inhibits a subset of activin receptor-like kinases, including ALK1, ALK2, ALK3, and ALK6 (IC50 values of 27 nM, 107.9 nM, <5 nM, and 47.6 nM, respectively). It is notably less effective at inhibiting ALK4, ALK5, BMPR2, TGFβR2, AMPK, or KDR (IC50 values of 1825 nM, 565 nM, 3845 nM, 140.4 nM, 1122 nM, and 214.7 nM, respectively). DMH1 is utilized for applications in stem cell biology, specifically for cell differentiation and reprogramming, as it increases cardiomyocyte differentiation in mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and promotes neurogenesis in human-induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
