Clozapine N-oxide (CNO) is a major metabolite of clozapine (Prod. No. BML-D107). CNO activates designer receptors exclusively activated by designer drugs (DREADDs) that are derived from human muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (M1-5D receptors).
Clozapine is an antipsychotic medication used in the treatment of schizophrenia, and is also sometimes used off-label for the treatment of bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder. It is on the World Health Organization’s List of Essential Medicines, a list of the most important medication needed in a basic health system.
