The anti-CD11b antibody detects human CD11b, an integrin alpha subunit expressed on monocytes, macrophages, granulocytes, and microglia. This antibody is optimized for use in immunohistochemistry (IHC).

CD11b, also known as integrin alpha M, is a transmembrane protein that forms part of the integrin αMβ2 complex (Mac-1 or CR3) when paired with the CD18 beta subunit. It plays a critical role in immune responses, mediating leukocyte adhesion, migration, and phagocytosis. CD11b is predominantly expressed on monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, and microglia, making it a key marker for studying innate immunity and neuroinflammation. In the central nervous system, CD11b is a critical marker for activated microglia, the resident immune cells of the brain, and is widely used to study neuroinflammatory responses in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. It is also involved in pathogen recognition, tissue remodeling, and inflammation, making it a target of interest in autoimmune disorders and infectious diseases.
