Effector caspase responsible for the cleavage of nuclear lamins in apoptosis. Caspase-6 cleavages of various other protein targets have been implicated in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease (b-amyloid precursor protein), Huntington’s disease (huntingtin).
