Sequence is from Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent kinase A subunit negative regulatory sequence containing the calmodulin binding site (290-309) plus autophosphorylation site (Thr286). Peptide can be phosphorylated at Thr286 by PKC. Useful as a CaM binding peptide and inhibits CaMKII by blocking Ca2+/CaM activation and the enzyme active-site. IC50=80 nM, CaM binding; IC50=2 µM, active-site.
