c-triAMP is a cyclic oligoadenylate involved in Type III CRISPR-Cas systems in prokaryotes. Upon recognition and binding of invasive target RNA, the Cas10 subunit of the type III interference complex generates cyclic oligoadenylates which in turn act as allosteric activators of Csm6 ribonucleases that degrade invader-derived RNA transcripts. c-triAMP was found to be the predominant reaction product in Streptococcus thermophilus while only c-hexaAMP activates the Csm6 ribonuclease of this organism (Kazlauskiene et al. (2017)).
