Antitumor agent

Lignan derivative, which shows antitumor, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and neuroprotective activities. Down-regulates anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-X_L. Potent inhibitor of HIV type-I integrase and DNA topoisomerase II. Shows phytoestrogenic and cytotoxic properties against Hep62 cells. Antagonist for platelet activating factor and Ca²⁺. Blocks the activation of Akt (protein kinase B; PKB) induced by glucose starvation.
