A natural protease inhibitor and known inhibitor of carcinogenesis induced by the S-dependent alkylating agent N-methyl-N-nitro-N-nitroso guanidine. It has been shown to supress chromosomal aberrations in human lymphocytes [1] and reduces nuclear binding of estrogen-receptor complex in MCF-7 breast tumor cells [2].
