Retinoic acid receptor ligand

Acitretin is a synthetic aromatic analog of all trans retinoic acid with increased stability in vivo. It is the active free acid form of the antipsoriatic drug etretinate. Displays antiproliferative effect and induces apoptosis in Kaposi’s sarcoma cells.
