For other salt forms please inquire. 7-cADPR, a recently identified structural isomer of the canonical second messenger cADPR (Cat. No. C 005), is one of several new, biologically relevant endogenous cyclic nucleotides, including 2′-cADPR (Cat. No. C 406) and 3′-cADPR (Cat. No. C 404). 7-cADPR has been identified as a signaling molecule involved in the innate immunity defense system of bacteria. Following recognition of phage invasion, bacterial Toll/interleukin-1 receptor (TIR)-domain proteins produce the previously unknown 7-cADPR. 7-cADPR activates the bacterial caspase-like protease, which indiscriminately degrades cellular proteins, halting phage replication. Rousett et al. denote this TIR-caspase defense system as type IV Thoeris, which is abundant in bacteria and efficiently protects against phage propagation.
