15-deoxy-Δ^12,14-PGJ₂ polyclonal antibody

15-deoxy-Δ^12,14-Prostaglandin J₂ (15-d-PGJ₂) is one of the ultimate dehydration products of PGD₂, formed via the intermediate Δ¹²-PGJ₂. 15-d-PGJ₂ is physiologically present in body fluids at concentration of 10^-12 to 10^-9 M, but increases dramatically under stress such as infection and inflammation. 15-d-PGJ₂ exerts both pro- and anti-inflammatory effects in a cell-type and concentration-dependent manner, with many of these effects mediated via binding to the γ isoform of the peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor (PPAR-γ). 15-d-PGJ₂ appears to induce HO-1 expression by a PPAR-γ-independent mechanism mediated by the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS).
