Sample extraction for this assay may only be needed if you have low LTB4 levels, so your samples cannot be efficiently diluted to eliminate matrix interference while still falling inside the standard curve range. To test this, you may first take a representative sample and serially dilute it to see if your samples can fall on the curve and obtain linearity; if you will be able to achieve this then extraction will not be needed.
