Cell Death, Apoptosis, or Necrosis
Visualize Toxic Events In Vitro
Read our TechNote
Apoptosis, or programmed cell death, is naturally occurring and activated by caspases that cleave proteins. Caspases are classified as effector or initiator caspases and can be used to determine apoptosis. Necrosis is an alternative to apoptosis and is not a regulated process. Injury, diseases, or external factors results in premature cell death that triggers necrosis. Apoptosis and necrosis can be differentiated by evaluating caspase 3/7 pathway activation
