Native Toxins and Antigens

for Diagnostics Development

Authentic Post-Translational Modifications for Optimal Antigenicity

Native antigens are widely used for immunodiagnostic assays such as ELISA and cytotoxicity testing. Enzo Life Sciences offers a broad range of native bacterial and viral antigens that deliver optimal antigenicity for use in vaccine therapeutics, serology-based diagnostic assays, and more.

  • Higher specificity and sensitivity
  • Minimal lot-to-lot variation
  • Reproducible scale-up for bulk quantities
  • Lyophilized format for extended shelf-life

Zika Virus

The Zika Virus is a member of the virus family Flaviviridae and is spread through Aedes mosquitoes. In 2015 the virus was categorized as an epidemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) as it spread through Brazil and the Americas. The virus causes symptoms such as fever and rash, it can also cause birth defects in women who are pregnant. Research continues as scientists work to develop a vaccine to prevent the spread of Zika virus.

Tick-borne Encephalitis

First isolated in 1937, TBE virus is also a member of the Flaviviridae family common in Europe and far Eastern countries. Spreading through hard ticks that act as a vector and reservoir for the virus, TBE symptoms include fever, headaches, muscle aches, or vomiting. This infectious disease affects over 12,000 people a year in Europe alone (according to the WHO). TBE vaccine development research resulted in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of a TBE vaccine in 2021 for use in the United States.
